Indirect Cylinders

Indirect cylinders are designed to work in conjunction with central heating systems. Heat is transferred from the boiler to the water contained in the cylinder via a heating coil.
Manufactured in accordance with the new British Standard, BS 1566-1 : 2002, these cylinders comply with the new Part L Building Regulations and combine a high performance heating coil with low heat loss factory applied insulation to provide a highly efficient and effective way to provide and store domestic hot water.
For those who require even faster heat transfer times these cylinders can be supplied with even larger heating coils. Designated as Quick Recovery, these units not only improve on heat-up times but also reduce boiler fire-up times to maximise its efficiency.
The cylinders are available in three grades - 1, 2, & 3 - with grade 3 generally being selected for normal domestic use. Grades 1 & 2 are made from heavier material and are most often used where there is a greater working head of water or where improved durability is required.
Cylinders can also be manufactured to economy 7 specification and to customers' own requirements. This is particularly important where older style cylinders are being replaced, where space is at a premium, and where specific connections are required (See Specials). Cylinders are available to any height from 600mm to 1800mm and to the diameters as listed below.
| Diameter - metric | Diameter - imperial |
|---|---|
| 300mm | 12" |
| 350mm | 14" |
| 375mm | 15" |
| 400mm | 16" |
| 450mm | 18" |
| 500mm | 20" |
| 600mm | 24" |
Alternative heights and diameters are also available where space and water volumes are at a premium.
